WWIDgirl's Diary

Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002 -- 1:40 a.m.

I have fridays off, meaning, I don't have class on fridays. However, I needed to go to school to drop off my prescription for birth control pills as well as selling my used text books and buying new text books.

I did none of these things.

Vic called me in the afternoon asking if I wanted to go to lunch with him. I said yes of course. I thought that perhaps he would pay for me because he said that he would buy me dinner for my birthday and lunch would be less expensive than dinner.

I picked up Yoona from work and we went to Futureshop. She wanted to find Karate Kid on DVD but it was in stock. She bought Bridget Jones's Diary and a Margaret Cho standup comedy DVD. She is also ordered "Adventures in Babysitting", "the 6th day", and "What Women Want" from Rogersvideo.ca, when we got home from the movie.

After we went to Futureshop, I picked up My dad from our house and dropped him off at the bus stop. My dad takes the bus so that I can drive the car, nice eh? I know.

Yoona and I met up with Vic, Tony and Onur at the Great West Steak house for lunch buffet.

The food was alright but there wasn't a very wide selection. I got three plates of roast beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, bowtie pasta thingys and meatballs. The guy working the buffet booth was kind of a freak. When I asked if I could have some roast beef, he jokingly put the entire roast on my plate. I just wasn't in the mood for it. I was hungry and I wanted to eat as soon as possible. I gave him a courtacy smile and I waited as he cut me a tiny piece of roast beef.

A sliver of a slice of roast beef.

This man was sizest. Just because I was a small asian girl he assumed I couldn't pack in very much. In contrast, he gave my large men friends HUGE slabs of beef. I ate more than the guys did, of course I do throw it up when I get home but that's not the point. I wanted HUGE MEAT! ;)

I didn't really like the buffet set up there and I hope that I do not go there again. They had just one table of main dish type foods (beef, ham, mashed potatoes, corn/carots/peas, bowtie pasta thingys, meatballs and gravy I think. At another table were the salad-type foods and breads and cheese and at another table were the deserts.

I did not like this. I like my buffet offerings to be ginormous. This was paltry at best, and the food wasn't even that great and it STILL came out to be around $13.50 including my coke plus a two dollar tip so $15.50 in total. I wish we had gone to harmony buffet. It would have been a few dollars cheaper but the variety there is stunning. Chinese foods and italian foods and soups and mussles and shrimps..... faaaaaaaaaaaaaaak.

Oh yeah, and I had to pay for myself. Vic did not pay. C'est la vie.

After lunch, I invited Vic over to watch the Margeret Cho standup DVD with Yoona and I. He ended up staying for that movie AND Bridget Jones's Diary.

Yoona invited me to go to a "dinner and a movie" night with her work buddies. Since I had nothing better to do I agreed to go, expecting to have a boring time. I don't really know her work buddies all that well and I didn't think I was in the mood to be sociable but I went anyway because I didn't want to be stuck in the house all night and I didn't want to go to a bar with Chris and Michelle.

We picked up Yoona's best friend Jackie from work (starbucks) and while we were in there Yoona got me a free venti white hot chocolate (my new favorite drink). Tanya, another girl that works there, gave me five marked out cookies which really made me happy and bode well for things to come.

We went to the Rockwater restaurant in Galleria mall to meet up with the rest of the crew. There was Abdul (who had planned this gathering), his gf Angela, Yohanna and her new bf, Kim, Kate, and Hilary plus Jackie, Yoona and I.

Everday, the restaurants in Galleria Mall offer this deal for Dinner and a Movie for $12.99. What you get is any entree off their menu plus any movie playing at the Rainbow cinemas in the mall (second run movies) for only $12.99. So what most of us ended up doing was ordering the 10oz new york steak which came with fries (usually 16.99 I think), plus a drink (which was a mandatory purchase and not included in the $12.99).

Yoona and I ordered our steaks medium rare but they came to us medium well. It wasn't very good and we were very disappointed. However, the company was great so it didn't matter all that much.

Yoona paid for my dinner/movie to bribe me to drive Jackie home, which I would have done anyway, so the night was exceptionally good.

Jackie, Yoona, Hilary, Kim, kate and I went to see Monsters Inc. I had downloaded it with Kazaa so Yoona and I had seen it before but it was still great on the big screen. Jackie even started crying when Sully says bye to Boo thinking he'll never see her again.

The others went to see Shallow Hal or Spy Games.

This theatre is great. Some of the girls bought food and for a small popcorn, small drink and a candy it was only $3.50!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember once time, Craig bought a bottle of water at Silver City and it was $3!! Just a regular sized bottle of water! It's not even that expensive at school and that's saying a lot.

After the movie we drove Jackie home and here I am. I tried to work on the Starbucks webpage but I seem to be quite inept at the whole page building thing. The guy who used to do it quit starbucks and moved away and Yoona was supposed to take his place but she doesn't know what to do so I tried my hand at it and I don' know what to do.

I'll try some more and hopefully I'll figure it out.
